Description
A Traditional Porch Swing Bed Built to Outlast Every Trend
Trends come and go. The Windermere doesn’t care. While our modern designs draw attention with bold lines and contemporary profiles, The Windermere earned its place long ago with something harder to achieve: timeless restraint. Whether your home is a Colonial revival, a Craftsman bungalow, a Cape Cod, a Victorian, or a brand-new build with classic sensibilities, this traditional porch swing bed feels like it was born to be a fixture in your home.
The Windermere’s proportions, lines, and detail work are drawn from the same design language that has defined American porch furniture for over a century. It’s traditional without being ornate, structured without being stiff, and elegant without trying too hard.
Named After a Charleston Neighborhood with Deep Roots
Windermere is a historic residential community in Charleston, South Carolina; A place where tree-lined streets, established gardens, friendly faces, and well-maintained porches reflect a neighborhood that values longevity and character over flash. We named this traditional porch swing bed after Windermere because it embodies the same philosophy: build something well, build it to last, and trust that classic design will always find its place.
The Craftsman Tradition, Built by Hand
The Windermere’s design draws on the American Craftsman tradition: honest materials, visible construction, and the belief that well-made things are inherently beautiful. Under the surface, it’s built with the same mortise and tenon joinery that defines every swing bed in our collection. Each piece is assembled by hand in our Charleston workshop from FSC/FEQ-certified lumber and put through our triple quality check.
Four Premium Wood Options
Kiln-Dried Pine (Standard) — KD Southern Pine is the all American workhorse, and looks dashing painted or dressed in a deep tone stain.
A-Grade Mahogany — Rich, warm grain with natural weather resistance. Adds depth and sophistication to the traditional design.
A-Grade Teak — The premier exotic hardwood. A Windermere in oiled Teak will be on your porch for decades with virtually zero maintenance (as long as your neighbors don’t try to take it).
A-Grade Cedar — Naturally aromatic, lightweight, and beautifully resistant to the elements. A natural complement to the traditional aesthetic.
Three Sizes
Loveseat (57″L x 32″D x 25.5″H) — Compact and perfectly proportioned. Fits our Loveseat mattress. Ideal for smaller porches or indoor use.
Twin (80″L x 43″D x 25.5″H) — Our most popular Windermere size. Fits a standard twin mattress. Comfortable for 2–3 adults.
Full (80″L x 58″D x 25.5″H) — Room for the whole family. Fits a standard full mattress. Scales beautifully at this size.
Paint or Stain
SW Pure White paint with 1″ Black or Manila rope is the iconic combination — the Windermere configuration that could re-appear in Southern Living tomorrow.
Early American or Dark Walnut stain with natural rope brings out the wood grain and gives warmth that paint can’t match.
Oiled Teak or clear-coated Cedar lets the premium wood speak for itself.
Caviar Black or Grays Harbor paint with black chain proves that a traditional porch swing bed can feel completely current with the right finish.
