Description
A Farmhouse Bed Swing That Inspires Nostalgia
One of our earliest designs, it goes without saying The Edisto simply makes you feel something. There’s a warmth to the farmhouse porch swing aesthetic that’s hard to put into words, but we can try. While it does conjure visions of a classic southern farmhouse set back in the country, it does so with an air of sophistication. It’s the kind of piece that invites you to sit down, kick off your shoes, and stay a while. The recognizable crosscut backrest gives it an approachable quality that pairs seamlessly with throw pillows, draped blankets, and the kind of effortless styling that defines modern farmhouse living.
The Edisto draws its name from Edisto Island, one of the oldest settlements in South Carolina and a place where the pace of life has always moved a little slower. Even today, take a drive through Edisto and you can probably count the number of corporations you recognize on both hands (maybe even one).
This isn’t a swing bed that demands attention, it’s probably more appropriate to say it’s earned it, quietly, by being the place everyone in the house has gravitated toward for a generation. If you’re drawn to farmhouse, coastal farmhouse, cottage, or traditional Southern aesthetics, I congratulate you in saying your search is over.
The Most Customizable Farmhouse Bed Swing in Our Collection
One thing that sets The Edisto apart from the rest of our lineup is the sheer number of ways you can make it your own.
Four sizes — from a compact Loveseat for smaller porches all the way up to a Queen for maximum lounging room. The Edisto is one of only a few models in our collection available in Queen size, making it ideal for families or anyone who wants a true outdoor sleeping experience.
Four wood species — choose from Kiln-Dried Pine (our standard), A-Grade Mahogany, A-Grade Teak, or A-Grade Cedar. The Edisto is one of our few designs available in Teak, which is widely considered the gold standard for outdoor wood furniture due to its natural oils that resist moisture, rot, and insects without any finish required.
Paint or stain — unlike The Charlotte (which is paint-only), The Edisto farmhouse swing bed accepts both paint and stain finishes beautifully. If you prefer the look of natural wood grain showing through, the Edisto in a stained Cedar or oiled Teak is a stunning option.
Built the Same Way Every Swing Bed Should Be
Underneath the farmhouse hood, The Edisto is built with the same structural integrity as every piece that leaves our Charleston workshop. The frame is assembled using mortise and tenon joinery — a time-tested woodworking technique that creates joints strong enough to handle decades of daily use and the dynamic forces of a swinging load, coupled with coated Timber hardware that enables a serviceable design should you ever move or need to replace a component.
Every board is hand-selected from FSC-certified lumber sources. Every joint is cut, fitted, and assembled by our team of artisans; not by machines on an assembly line. Every Edisto goes through our triple quality check: assembled, disassembled, and reassembled before it ever reaches the shipping table.
Four Premium Wood Options
Kiln-Dried Pine (Standard) — Our most popular choice. Architectural-grade, lightweight, and takes paint and stain beautifully. An excellent all-around option that balances quality with value.
A-Grade Mahogany — Rich, warm grain with natural resistance to rot and decay. Mahogany is a premium hardwood that adds depth and sophistication. Accepts both stain and paint with exceptional results.
A-Grade Teak — The premier outdoor wood. Teak’s natural oil content makes it virtually impervious to moisture, insects, and UV damage. Over time, unfinished Teak develops a distinctive silver-grey patina or it can be oiled to maintain its warm, honey-gold tone.
A-Grade Cedar — Naturally aromatic, lightweight, and beautifully resistant to moisture and insects. Cedar’s tight grain accepts stain exceptionally well and offers outstanding dimensional stability.
